DNS Propagation
Compares the answer of the authoritative nameservers with the answers of public DNS resolvers (Google, Cloudflare, Quad9, OpenDNS…) and shows where the old value is still visible and when its cache expires.
Frequently asked questions
- How long does DNS propagation take?
- As long as the TTL of the old value. A resolver that cached the old record returns it until the TTL expires; this tool shows exactly how much is left. Nameserver changes also depend on the NS TTL in the parent zone (often 1–2 days).
- Why is the check run from one location?
- We currently measure from our infrastructure in Serbia. Anycast resolvers (Google, Cloudflare…) answer from the nearest node, so the result shows what users in this region see. More locations can be added without changing the tool.
